Not enough RAM?

Hello. I have an HP Pavilion tx1000 with a 2 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM. I've noticed that it runs considerably slower than my other laptop, an HP Pavilion g7, with a 2.2 GHz processor and 4 GB of RAM. Is 0.2 GHz the difference between amazing performance and the frame rate severely dropping at a simple physics game? Or, do I simply need to gain some RAM? By the way, both laptops have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, so I think a bit more RAM may help. This is actually my first post here, made an account just for this. Also, I'm not sure if the number of cores would affect that, either. An answer would be greatly appreciated. If Minecraft can get a performance boost, I would love to know.

As such you have to look at CPU charts to compare the CPUs. The old Turion was no speed demon. And yes, I prefer 4GB over 2GB without writing more.

Thank you for the information. I would love to get my laptop in top performance. I'm planning on using it for school,my friends will be so jealous of me, the only kid to have a laptop with me, let alone a touchscreen laptop. All I need is for it to have lightning-fast speed and I'll be as happy as a... a really happy person. Thanks for the insight,

The other drag on performance I often run into is the hard drive. Use the tool you want to find the make, model of the HDD on both and then we can see if the drive is slower too.

I just found out that my laptop only supports 2 GB of RAM, which is odd, considering that A: It's a gaming laptop. Says so right on the very plastic it was made from. Also, B: It's got a 64-bit OS and processor. Strange.

Thanks for your support, but I'll have to put the performance on hold for now. I've run into a problem with the wireless abilities and can barely get any information unless it's on the hard drive (which is also giving me a tiny bit of grief), on a disk, or to have it sit down cellar, wired to the wall, in what could very well be one of the most unconfortable and inconvenient places to have a laptop in the entire house. I actually wrote this from my other, faster, more powerful laptop. I only really have thee TX1000 for school and because it's awesome. I guess it's better to resort to this laptop instead of the old Windows 98 clunker laptop getting dusty in my room. Heh.
