Should I Install an SSD in My Cheap Laptop?

Hello. I have an Acer Aspire One (11.6") Netbook, Model 722-0828, that I got on sale at Costco for $249, mainly for its light weight (about 3 pounds). It's processor is an AMD C-60 APU with Radeon HD Graphics 1.00 GHz, it has 4 GB of RAM and it's OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. So far it's been dependable, but very slow. I have a fair share of optional programs installed such as Vipre Antivirus, Google Earth, Open Office Org, Nero 8, Microsoft Streets & Trips, etc., but not (I don't think, anyway) an overwhelming amount of junk or bloatware. I read somewhere that a guy installed an SSD drive in his Acer Aspire One and it sped up the operations a lot. I am wondering if this is a wise choice for me. I went to Crucial.com website and found the compatible SSD which would cost about $137 with a data transfer kit for a 128 GB. I currently am using about 95 GB total and don't foresee putting much more on it, so a 128GB SSD should (barely) be sufficient. I am wondering if anyone else has installed an SSD on a fairly "cheap" laptop and if so, what results have your experienced. Thanks for any info.

With 4GB RAM it's caching the HDD already very well so it is very doubtful that you'll get any meaningful boost.

Thanks--that's all I needed to hear. I'll put the $$ toward a new, fast, light, supercomputer that will probably come out soon (lol)......

notice is at boot up.

Thats a good price though for the Kit. I got a 128 GB Kingston with a kit for 139 a year ago.
