Toshiba Portege R700 series - Very loose PCIe connection.

Quick Stats: 1) My Model -Toshiba Portege R700 S1332. 2) PCIe card - SIIG FireWire 2-Port
3) Issue - Very Loose PCIe connection.
The Brief: I use this notebook in a high-stakes professional work environment for live event recording (with 1394 interfaced recording hardware via PCIe card) and the shockingly loose PCIe connection is extremely nerve racking indeed. Just the tension provided by the stiffness of the FireWire cable alone is enough to unseat the card (believe it or not)... I've already lost a vasst amount of data during an external backup transfer (thank God for recovery software).
Toshiba swears this is customary of the PCIe interface but this just can't be true. How could you rely on it for.. Anything?? Is this issue unique to the Porteges or truly just a PCIe flaw in general as some rumors suggest. I am yet to encounter a review that addresses this issue.
I currently use a rectangular piece of rubber cut to size and inserted into the PCIe slot alongside the PCIe card to wedge the card firmly in place once it is seated- very 21st century I know. Please share if you know of a better solution. Thanks much.
