Laptop (Alienware M14x) Sound Issue

The sound on my laptop (Alienware M14x) has been very buggy lately.

It's unique in which the sound is not going in and out constantly or randomly. Whether I'm watching a youtube video or watching a video through VLC, if I reload a couple times or re-open the video file I'm trying to watch a couple times, eventually the sound will kick in.

Also, it should be noted that if I open my Volume Mixer, if the sound is not working, it will not display the usual green volume bar that indicates the fluctuating volume levels, so it isn't just a bad pair of headphones or something of the sort.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I'm a bit out of my element on this one.

Try system restore to when it works, look to dell for latest drivers or restore to the factory install.
