Laptop screen flickering, then goes black! Help!

I have an l305 Toshiba laptop. Long story short, it took a spill off my table about a week ago. I purchased a a new screen, and a new transformer. The screen was completely black after the fall. Now, heres the thing... I have replaced the screen, and tried 2 new transformers. When You unplug/plug in the transformer, the screen will pop on for a few seconds, begin to flicker, and then shut off. If you close the lid, and then re-open it, it will do the same thing. It made me think that the lid close switch was faulty, but I did the sleep-lid-open-trick, and sure enough when I closed the lid it went right into sleep and not before. It seems to me like whatever POWERS the transformer, is going bad. Maybe the fall broke something in that area? Can anyone help me out with this problem, because it is REALLY aggrivating. Maybe a picture of the hardware if possible?

If the screen and motherboard have taken a hit, such machines cost more to fix than to replace. The symptoms point to board problems so we know to warn the owner about the cost to repair.
