Laptop troubleshooting forum: HP 2000 Laptop Buzzing Noise when Playing any Media

I would except I have just restored all my old files and programs from my old laptop...don't want to go through that again. This is apparently a pretty common problem with Windows 7, there are a lot of references to 'buzzing while playing media w/ windows 7' on Google search, but the ONLY remedy that I see that works is disabling a program on HP laptops called HP Power Assistant, but this program is not installed on my model...so I'm trying to find out what else is causing the 'surge/spike' that is causing the buzzing sound.

Sorry but after tackling this a few times I learned to return the OS to stock but never did find a DPC checker to be of any use.

Maybe you can try HP's stock drivers all around but it's a shame you didn't restore the machine first as one of the exploits we talk about is to put our rootkit on the machine we are about to sell or gift and see if the user finds it or not.

I am not as computer saavy as you are, your repllies to my post don't make any sense to me. I went to HP's website and updated the Audio driver...with no success. As far as restoring the machine, I did not discover the problem until after I spent 2 days redownloading all of my files and documents, all of my password information, and purchased software programs from my previous laptop. AS Far as your last post......

The above reply does nothing to help me solve the problem I am having. From here on out, if you can't offer a solution, please refrain from replying.

It takes time to learn the lingo and I see you did install drivers without any effect.

--> THE BIG CLUE in all this is the machine is used. There is a reason why the person sold it and you may have discovered it.

But we can fix some audio problems but using an USB AUDIO stick. It's under 2 bucks to my mailbox. Here's the link.

Since you need tech support (this is a discussion forum) you should in my opinion backup your stuff and then seek help at a counter or HP.com

-> Remember that today's ready to use machines no longer offer support to fix a small problem with a small fix. HP and most companies use a blunt instrument approach and reload the machine.

There are some folk that are very upset about that and may lash at anyone that tried to help,

The Laptop in question was brand new. I have no problem with receiving constructive advice. I may very well end up having to return the Laptop to HP and get a replacement since I have only had it three weeks. I am just trying to find a solution other than having to go through all of the hassle of having to reload all of the stuff I have just reloaded from my old laptop.

Just last year I had this HP laptop and found an issue. More than 8 hours on the phone and finally HP sends a box to get it fixed. WRONG MOVE. The laptop came back and would not work for more then 5 minutes.

Call HP and I get "we've done all we could". This was about a 4 month old laptop. Fortunately the office had already supplied a replacement and no disaster,

Months passed with me filling out response forms and a few calls but no offer to repair my laptop. At about 9 months I wrote it off and shortly there after a HP social network person got in touch with me.

Too late, damage done. I suggest you contact HP but be aware they do have service issues.


My best advice is to return it since it was defective on arrival.

Yeah, I'm thinking it may come down to that. Sorry for venting on you earlier. Just totally frustrated that I can't find a definitive answer on this issue....especially when I see that many others have had the same problem. Thanks for your advice.

Thanks, I actually purchase it at Walmart, but I have contacted HP Support and they want me to send it in to them for service. Not real happy that they are going to delete everything I have installed and return it to factory condition, but guess I have no choice. Thanks for your inquiry.

It was a Walmart unit too. Not that is a bad thing but imagine this. Similar story line. Hope for a better ending.
