I have a Dell M6500 w Vista and screen randomly turns off?

I have cleaned the fans, its not running hot, I have the bottom elevated for air flow, I've got an additional monitor hooked up and on its own the screens turn black but not the computer. The only thing I can do is hold the power button for about 30 seconds and restart it. My virus protection is up to date and this laptop in NOT on the internet...I use it to build digital maps. Help please.?.?

The next procedure I do is to remove the heat sinks and replace the heat sink compound.

This procedure is normal for any few year old PC or laptop. The work is needed to insure the compound has not dried up, the heat sinks are on proper and everything is clean.

However the M6500 is one massive laptop with a huge 210 Watt power supply so this reinforces that at about 2 years you would do this procedure.

After exhausting many tests, since its still new and under warranty...Dell can handle it now, thanks.

M6500 video card

I'm having the same issue, however mine is no longer under warranty. Did replacing the video card solve the issue?
