Sony Vaio laptop died and won't turn bk on,

I was using my laptop yesterday on a full battery when all of a sudden it went dead, no warning nothing, it wasn't a shut down just black completely dead and would not turn back on, no response at all except that the on/off switch flashed for a second but no fan no star up noise or nothing. I plugged it into the mains charger in case the battery was dead even though laptop said was full, but there was still nothing at all. The light showing that the laptop at the front glows when the mains charger is plugged in but that is as much as is working. I have tried taking the battery out and just using the mains charger but nothing, I plugged the battery back in but still no change. It's been 24 hrs now and there is no change, the laptop is only 14 months old but this is the second time I have had a problem with this now as about 7 months after I bought it the hard drive had to be replaced could it be to do with this.

The laptop is under warranty and I will be sending it in to be repaired but jaws wondering if any1 has any idea what could be wrong with it out of interest? Will Sony be able to fix it as it has all my photos and stuff on which I want to keep but am worried that there all going to be lost
