i have a dell inspiron 6400. the video stopped working. i hooked it to another monitor and that one worked fine. do i need a new backlight or screen/convertor? how can i know and what part do i order? when checking screens i see a few different options. soooo confused.

I found more than a few models. Also, you learn quickly that you can't guess which part but can use methods to reduce the number of guesses.

For example the first thing I do is the GENERIC RESET. Takes about 2 minutes and is not harmful to machine or data.

That and how to test the inverter is at the top of this forum.
