wireless trouble?

i have a new toshiba laptop that was working perfectly until 3 days ago when I couldn't get the wireless to work. I checked my modem and all the computer settings but when I push function F8 it says "Wireless Communication is disabled. Please turn on wireless communication switch". Anyone know where this "mystery switch" is???

And if you think the wifi has failed, I use this under 8 buck usb thing from amazon. Just a little hard to install on old XP, plug and play for 7.
