TouchPad Not Working - Toshiba Satellite A35-S159

My old laptop's touchpad will not respond. Therefore, I can't move the curser. OS = XP; I removed a bunch of programs, which probably caused it. I want to restore to a prior time, hoping that will cause the touchpad to work again. However, I can't move the curser w/the keyboard, tab or directional arrows.

Ideas?
