Cursor jumps all over while typing
by 1Chris - 7/16/09 8:52 PM
While I'm typing on a Dell Inspiron 700M, the cursor jumps all over the place at random. All of a sudden the text will appear before the word I'm writing, at the top, wherever.

You are my HERO!!! TouchFreeze indeed.
Touchfreeze worked great for me! Dell Inspiron 2011 running Windows7. Thanks much!
I just downloaded TouchFreeze after struggling with this issue for months. I tried all the other suggestions as well as some others, and this seems to have finally done the trick! Thank you for posting this link!
I don't think this is a virus issue. My trouble started after the Dell engineer replaced my hard drive. Anyway the software is really worth trying. It has cured the problem
Jumping Cursor in Windows 7 on Sony Vaio
I fixed my own problem by first installing a wireless mouse on my laptop. However, when I tried to disable my touchpad under Hardware through Mouse Properties in the Control Panel, I was unable to do that. I tried uninstall, nothing worked. I finally stumbled on a fix in the Vaio Control Center, through the Sony support website.
Go to Start, click on Programs, then Vaio Control Center.
Click on Keyboard and Mouse and three lines appear:
Click on Pointing Device, then uncheck the Enable checkbox. That did the trick. It makes sense since the touchpad is listed as "Alps Pointing device for Vaio" in the Control Panel. No more jumping cursor.
This should help all Sanio Vaio users with a jumping cursor. My biggest problem now is getting used to using a mouse after years of using a touchpad.
I have the same problem!
I have exactly the same problem, it really sucks.
Which method works? There're so many seem not working.
(NT) Jumping Cursor that worked for me a very quick and simple !

I purchased a Dell Computer with Window's 7 and was not able to resolve until I ran across this download. It works and my recommendation is that you download it and keep it as a file. It seems that whenever windows updates I have to reload. I promise this works:
I've been struggling with this issue for weeks! I still can't believe I am able to type so freely!! That download really does work and it worked instantly!! Thank god.
I too have been struggling with this ever since I upgraded my Acer Aspire 1520 to Windows 7, and it seems to have gotten worse recently. It's especially a problem trying to type in gmail windows. Sorry, it was! This is a great fix - thanks, it actually works. Kind regards, David.
I am glad that you found it helpful. It is a shame that you have to do something like this to make the computer work properly. I keep on hoping that there is a fix for the computer rather than just blocking the functionality.
It worked hooray and helped when typing stuff. Thanks for the tip but now my cursor is jumping around if I open firefox or explorer browser and not in Safari. What do you suggest I am getting crank over this one plz help
I just had to say thank you soooo much for this advice. I have been living with this problem for literally years and I have put off learning more about it. It has caused so much fustration and anger. This really worked! Thanks
Look for the post with the freeze touch cure for this, works instantly and stays fixed. I was so frustrated, I HATED to type on my laptop and now it's great again.
I tried the Freeze Touch install and once installed I couldn't click on anything. It totally made my Windows 7 64bit Dell Studio useless. Had to uninstall and now I'm back to square one.
1. disabled the touch pad and used an external mouse?
2. reported the bug?
Touch Freeze Identified as viral.....
That's what happened to me, but my anti-virus program caught it and I deleted it. An external mouse and 8 layers of duct tape over the touch pad cured my cursor problem.
