at least the i7 series and what I'm reading says. If cost it the number one thing your looking at the 3rd generation Ivy bridge will be discounted. The 4th generation processor will not be much different from the 3rd generation in desktops as the major improvements over the 3rd generation are Graphics and battery life.
1. The new Iris graphics will actually do 3D graphics without a discrete graphics card.
2. Battery life - The new micro architecture has changed from the Ivy and Sandy Bridge to be more power efficient. The Haswell has a integrated voltage regulator which focuses on power saving and lower temperatures.
I read that a group tested the MBA 13.3 haswell versus Ivy Bridge processor test. The haswell almost doubled the Ivy bridge and got 15.5 hours of battery life. The ivy MBA is going for 974.99 and the new MBA is going for 1089. SO your looking at a 10% increase for the new technology.
