Thanks, from what I've seen the Acer tends to be the better choice.

Do you have any idea if the Acer could handle light gaming? I assume it'd naturally be fine with the basic web browsing and standard office use.

Since the I5 chip has decent graphics for most applications, I'm sure it would be fine for games like solitaire, if that's what you mean by light gaming. In general games are the most demanding of your video, so I guess it comes down to "it depends".

Not quite Solitaire light, thinking more basic flash and lower end Steam games! (Let's say.. CounterStrike 1.6) for example!

Either way, I think I'll pick up the Acer and see how it goes.

Lenovo is the best brand for the kind of use you are looking for. You can go for an i3 . Dell and HP have lot of manufacturing problems and are costly also.

My brother has been using Lenovo since 3 years - not a single problem!!
