Advice on an i5 laptop

i am currently looking to buy a new laptop and i have doing a lot of research and found these two models.

HP Pavilion g6-2116sx Notebook PC:
Intel® Core™ i5-3210M Processor (3M Cache, up to 3.10 GHz)
4GB DDR3 RAM 1066MHz
500GB HDD 5400 rpm
15.6" LED display ATI Mobility
AMD Radeon™ HD 7670M GMA with 2GB GDDR3 dedicated VRAM

Acer Aspire V3-571G:
Intel® Core™ i5-3210M Processor (3M Cache, up to 3.10 GHz)
4GB DDR3 RAM 1066MHz
500GB HDD 5400 rpm
15.6" HD CineCrystal, Active Matrix TFT Colour LCDNVIDIA® GeForce® GT 630M GMA with 1GB dedicated VRAM

there isnt a big difference in price, so my question is which one is better and is there a laptop that is better than both around the same price?

Personally I like Dell, Toshiba, and Asus

I'm not a fan of either brand you mentioned. I don't think you could go wrong with something from Dell, Toshiba, or Asus. I currently have a Toshiba with an I5 CPU and love it. I start about 25 tasks on it, so have upgraded from 4 to 8 GB RAM, but that's cheap and easy to do. Replacing what I had with 8 GB cost me all of $42.

But in my memory is my dead HP in warranty that after 6 months was still dead. Can't say I'd go near them again. It's just one laptop but it was one of ours.

in your opinion what is the best laptop (other than the ones i mentioned) for the same price range knowing that i already have a desktop for gaming so i really don't care about it for the laptop?

It's a Ford/Chevy selection.

I'd go with the one that has a better LCD. Look at each one and let your eyes decide.

For me my decision is HP's performance on warranty. The unit had a design bug and at 3 months I took the time to call it in, spent 8+ hours on that call and then they killed in in their service system. 6 months later it was still dead.

I hope they can do better but I'm out one laptop.

My brande preference is Acer

I've had 3 of them with one 6 years old and going strong. I don't know how Acer support is because I've never had to use them. I had a HP laptop and the battery stopped charging after a year. Now the Acer battery lasted about 4.5 years and it powered a 20.1" screen.
