Laptop display resolutions

Hello folks,

I am out in the market for a new laptop and was looking for a laptop that has fine resolution like the newer iPad but majority of the laptops that I find in the market have same resolution as my 4 year old laptop, 1366x768 (or closer)

I wonder, if Apple can provide such display in a tablet, why similar resolution is not offered in the laptops? Pardon my ignorance if the answer is obvious but its really baffling me.

Part of the reason is what happens in Windows.

I'm guessing you haven't seen Windows 7 and prior on higher DPI screens. Or what many apps do on same.

You're not being ignorant but the Windows apps are. We have little hope for old apps but as 8 rolls along, maybe by Windows 9 this will be sorted.
