Laptop buying advice forum: Is there any computer that meets these specifications?

Because if we look at a common part of laptops you find 300 to maybe 1200 cycle batteries and this means a major component did not make it to 4 years.

About the i7. While I love 'em, have you read the following?

This means a lot for many folk. Pull back to the often cooler i5 (heat reduces life span) and consider paying half that for a 2 year laptop. I picked up a Samsung rv515 for 399 and from the looks of it, it may be something I'll recommend for some folk.

modify the specs to get under 800. With computers you get what you pay for except with Apple you pay even more. Also computers are sort of like cars and will last longer then better they are taken care of. Plus you also have components that may be made by 10 different comapnaies inside the computer. Example maxtor or Seagate HD, ATI or Nvidia graphics cars, Asus motherboard with AMD or Intel Processor, realtek or sounblaster sound card and maybe an instel wireless card. Basically nothing inside the computer is made by the name on the outside and the computer is even manufactured by a name different then the name on the outside (unless it's Asus or MSI).

Most of the laptops with backlit keyboard are gaming machines and gaming machines tend to have the power hungry components that lead to lower battery life.

The price of a laptop varies per day and per outlet, not even mentioning countries (US dollars, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars).

And unless you pay for a 4-year warranty you don't know in advance that it will last for 4 years. For a laptop, a 4-year warranty will be rather expensive.

It seems to me that the 6++ hours battery life make it an 'ultrabook'. Most of those will be more expensive, I'm afraid. What candidates did you fiind already?
