Clarification request: Since the newer model of the Asus is cheaper.

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-A54C-AB91-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B0089WLYQ0/ is less money and has an uptick in the CPU why would we look at the older model?

Also, look at the best sellers at http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Computers-Accessories-Laptop/zgbs/pc/565108

I think you might do better.

Bob,

Many thanks for ur input. I did go through Amazon's best sellers list, that is where I found those 3 computers I posted. Given that all the technical details dont make much sense to me, I picked my choices based on user reviews, not only on Amazon, but other sites I could find. The user reviews for the newer Asus arent that great (concern about sound & battery life did it for me) that's why I have not considered it.

I saw a couple of Acer laptops, but from what I hear it's not the greatest bran overall. Is that really so?

Any other laptop recs keeping in mind my budget? (doesnt have to be from Amazon) Have u looked at Amazon's best sellers list urself?

And if the choice was between the three in the OP, which would u recommend?

If we talk brands, Apple certainly wins that round. Brand has little to do with quality.

My money? The Asus I noted. It has the uptick in the CPU and less money. Could not talk myself in the older more expensive model.
