Very Lightweight for Rough Travel

Looking for a very lightweight compact laptop/sleekbook/ultrabook to use for word processing and browsing while traveling through Central and South America. Due to my modes of travel, there will be a significant possibility of theft. Low replacement cost is desirable, It will be mainly used for writing and occasional web browsing and email. It should stand up to fairly rough handling. A backlit
keyboard would be nice. I'm fairly ham fingered, so a user-friendly keyboard is a must. My vision is on the decline, so a senior-friendly display is needed.
