I need a laptop for college

I need a portable computer for college, I am not sure what brand is best nor the amount of memory and so on that I will need. I am in school for psychiatry which means 12 years. I may use it for gaming, but likely only one or two games. I need a laptop not only for college but at home. Something I can use for light gaming, online classes, research papers, to run a few programs (not all at the same time but a certain amount), and isn't very slow. I also will likely get a printer along with it. I need an opinion on at least what brand is most durable with a mid-range cost with enough power to be a home and college computer for a few years, not all 12 I figure any computer would need upgrading after a few. Please give me some kind of clue because I am so lost.

While I don't see college folk get much past 4 years this drops as they play games.

Even so, try the usual alienware in the 11 to 14 inch sizes.
