New gaming/school laptop (but mostly gaming)

I've been looking around for a new laptop to get for my birthday in a few months time, and someone recommended the Medion Erazer X6815, as it meets my requirements.
I need a laptop that is well suited to gaming (as this is what I will be predominantly using it for) and also is reasonably good for word processing, internet browsing and watching online videos etc, although these functions are low priority, as I need it to be as good as I can afford for gaming in my price range.
I don't care at all what it looks like, as long as it is reasonably sturdy, and I don't care much for the speaker quality either. Obviously the screen has to be good quality, though.
My budget is £500-£700 or $800-$1100.
Was my friend right in recommending the Medion? And if not what others can you suggest?

All gaming laptops are compromises. By moving to a laptop the limits of heat dissipation and what the consumer will pay for mean it's never the system the gamer really wanted.

Try the Dell Alienware as well.

But would you say the Medion is a good compromise? I've been doing a lot of research and most of the evidence points to it, I just need some more confirmation

It's not a model I've seen in Canada or the USA. Not one person I've seen in 3+ decades of PCs and computers has had that make. And even in my trips to Asia, never saw one. You'll have to check your country and see how the reviews go.

Okay well the reviews I've seen are all positive, and I think I'll go with this one as microsoft office is included in the price (which is pretty cheap anyway), but thanks anyway happy
