Hello there,
I am in the market for a new laptop. I will be using the laptop for software development, web browsing and watching movies. My budget is around 1000 (excluding taxes and extended support). I'm not quite sure how much RAM would I need. I am looking for Win 7 Pro laptop. I also plan on installing virtual PC's such as Linux and windows server 2008 to learn as I am studying. I need at least 750 GB hard drive. I do not want SSD because they are expensive and don't come in larger capacity. I need a battery with long life around 8hrs.
I would like 15" but we consider 17".
Is there a striking difference between 1366 x 768 and 1600 x 900?
Should I go with video card with 1GB or 2GB dedicated RAM?
Any thoughts on NVIDIA Quadro 1000M Optimus Graphics technology (2GB ) and NVIDIA Quadro 2000M Optimus Graphics technology (2GB) video cards? Is the upgrade from model 1000 to 2000 worth $250? I am not a gamer but I like to watch movies in Hi-Def and I do occasional graphic work, editing photos, etc.
The laptops that I built and liked so far (Lenovo w520 and Dell XPS17) came almost close to 2000 including taxes and extended support.
Thanks in advance.
