I spend ~3-4 hours a night writing, and 8 hours on weekends. In the winter, I would spend this time on my desktop where I have a keyboard with Cherry Reds, and love the feel. It's clicky, responsive, and the keys bounce back well.
Now that the weather is getting nice, I'd like to migrate myself outside so I can do my writing there. However, from the laptops I've tried out so far, the keyboards are soft, unresponsive, and virtually unusable. I have an ancient HP DV6700, a cheap laptop I got out of necessity for traveling, that replaced a Macbook Pro, but the keyboard isn't conducive for long stints.
I'm not a super huge Mac fan, and would prefer a Windows 7 machine, so I can use my Zunepass + Windows Phone with it, but I'm open. However, if a Mac is the answer, I'm open to it.
Screen size is not important. For GPU performance, I'll predominately have three windows open at any moment (Open Office, Zune, and Chrome), and bounce between them quite often. No gaming or Photoshopping or anything like that.
Price is not really too much of a concern, but I'd prefer to be sub $1,500. If the right keyboard costs $2k, though, I'm all in!
Thanks for all the help, Cnet community!
