Hi,
I need a laptop that is powerful and quick to respond and can cope with several programs running at the same time. I need it for programs such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Turbo Cad etc. but would also be using it for office docs etc and webcam contact for Skype.

I have read many reviews and think the Asus G74SX, although a gaming machine, may be the one to chose. It is pricey but appears to have pretty good all round reviews but would like to have your valued opinion.

I have looked at HP, MSI & Sony, perhaps could also suggest other choices.

What machine NOW does what you want TODAY? Then we can compare it to this new laptop.

hi Bob,
I was using a pc with plenty of power and storage space as well as external discs, two screens etc. but I now need to take my work with me. I realise that the Asus G74SX is a heavy machine with low battery power but I will not be using it on planes and usually can find a wall plug to charge up.

I need a machine that responds and quickly adapts to changes as i develop websites hence Dreamweaver & Photoshop. Not into games but need a high RAM.

As i mentioned, I have looked at Sony, cool looking machines but under powered, at MSI, but I don't like the red back lights, at HP PavilionDV7 but would prefer the NVIDIA Graphics card etc...
I need =
large screen - min 15.3"a screen resolution of 1680 x 1050
Dedicated Graphics card perhaps 2 GB
lots of RAM 6GB minimum
capable of adding RAM if 6GB
CPU 2 cores or higher
webcam
reasonable sound system
no noise fan cooling system

there are always pros and cons but the Asus seemed to be a serious contender although expensive.
Any ideas?

Sorry but today I have yet to find ANY laptop that meets that requirement. Maybe in a few years?

The 2GB Video RAM is an odd requirement. Usually needed for gamers. If you look at most speed tests, this is not going to affect pixels/vectors per sector or display quality. Very odd requirement.
