Hey, you've come to the right guy :P I had to take that decision too, trust me there is nothing harder than that.

First off, I would NEVER advice on purchasing an HP Laptop. Why? because of the problem of Overheating! They always, always overheat. For your needs, especially (gaming), this will be a serious issue. You will end up purchasing an exterior fan to place the laptop on to reduce the amount of heat.

It is a matter of choice!! But it is something I would not advice. I currently own a SONY VAIO and to be honest its the best purchase I ever made. The specs arent that high, but I have no problems when it comes to playing games like Battlefield 3, GTA EFLC, Rage, MW3 and so on. You can check it out (SONY VAIO EB Series ... its the VPC-EB3S1E)

4GB RAM
AMD Radeon Mobility HD5650 - 1024MB
500GB space
intel i5 (2.52ghz turbo to 2.8)

But I wouldnt recommend the exact same laptop as newer ones are in! Just saying SONY in general is good enough for hardcore gaming and they are lightweight. Plus, they are good looking (not alien s*** with devilish looking features like Alienware, just modern, plain and simple meaning presentable everywhere)

You can also look at the DELL XPS 15 (the 17 or the 15Z they are all brilliant machines).
For the 15, 2.20 GHz - turbo boost to 3.3.GHz i7Quad Core with Hyper threading
750GB 7200rpm HDD
Blue Ray
HD screen (1920 x 1080) with 2.0MP skype certified camera (includes facial recognition)
6GB RAM standard (upgradable to 8)
JBL Sub Woofer Speakers
2GB Nvidia GeForce Graphics Card
PLUS, DELL will be cheaper than the HP also with better specs
only problem ... it is a BIT bulky but it is completely worth it

If you want the lightweight one, get the Dell XPS 15Z
Only downside (compared to XPS 15), doesnt come with JBL Subwoofers and More expansive
It looks amazing though! Simply said, the 15Z is a windows version of a Mac, with a better processor!

Wow, thanks for the lengthy reply, i much prefer it over a straightforward answer.

The truth is, I already own a Sony Vaio. I have one of the EA series (i belive that was last years version of the E series) and i like it alot, but as it turns out, Im going to need more power than what its offering now.
Sony is a great manufacture, but i wanted to try another manufacture.

I looked up the Samsung Series 7, and didnt like the customization as much. the same thing for the Dell
XPS 15 and 15z (more likely the 15z). I actually didnt mind the specs for that laptop, but still a little hesitant (didnt have the best experience in the world with dell...)

My older brother has a HP laptop. and to him it works amazingly, then again, he isnt as into computers as i am, so he could be easily swayed by them.

Now like you said, and what i believe, Sony is a good choice. My problem is that there laptops are a tad pit over priced, which isnt an incredible problem to me. but more as i could get something more. Also, as you guessed, im looking for a 15 laptop, not too big not to small, at the same time have lots of power, and the E's dont have that, or not as much. (looking for i7)

Dell, Samsung, and Sony will be on the top of my roster for laptops, but im not going to count Hp out just yet.
This things like these always takes so much research.
