A Laptop for Gaming and Dev.

by 00Rize00 - 3/13/12 6:53 PM

Alright, to start this off, I've been doing a lot of research on various laptops, and customization for them. I've been trying to find a good laptop to do my game developing (programming and what not.) and at the same time do hardcore gaming (nothing too hardcore, more like MMO's or Shooter's, and well most other genre). The thing is, when ever i find a laptop that i may consider, it always turns out to be this big hulking machine. Now i understand that for most gaming laptops, there has to be alot of room to hold all the hardware, but as i said before, these things are MASSIVE. Like the Alienware M17x and M18x, they indeed have the power that i want but are way too large to carry around, especially since they weigh alot (even the 14). Now, i came across the HP Envy 15, did a bit of research on that, and decided that it wasn't a bad choice for power and price, i like the design too (although its very similar to Macbook). To top it off, it wasn't as large as other gaming laptop's (guessing because its not considered a gaming laptop, but more of a multimedia laptop). Either way, it has the power i need, and the portability i want. But what i want to find out is if im getting a good buy for the specs.

It is customized to have:
2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2760QM Processor (2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.5 GHz)

1GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics(TM) [HDMI, DP]

12GB 1333MHz DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)

750GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection

15.6-inch diagonal Radiance Full HD Infinity LED-backlit Display (1920 x 1080)

Thats basically all that i added on. the price came to 1854.18 without tax.

Let me know your thoughts and please show me other laptops you find more beneficial to me.
