The average pic is 2 MB. So 2 GB is 1000 pics. 200 GB is 100.000 pics. The average hard disk is 500 GB nowadays. So that might be sufficient, depending on how much your ton is.

All your other requirements are easily fulfilled by any laptop you see, as long as it has at least an Intel i3 processor. Those can be far less than USD 1000.

I wanted something a litte smaller and last summer I got a 14" HP with a 2nd gen i5 processor (xxxx), 640GB HD and 6GB RAM for $600 including tax (the only thing I'm missing is a backlit keyboard). I'm happy. Choose the size screen you want, spend $100 on a 1TB portable external HD, and get a 2nd gen i5 or i7 processor. You can definitely do all that for no more than a grand!
