LAPTOP CHOICE (alienware vs Sony vaio)

Hi guys.. i need help chosing which laptop is best... one is an Alienware m17x and the other is the sony vaio VPCF23C5E ..
Iv set both laptops up with similar specs and as you might imagen the Alienware is a lot more expensive. Please let me know your thoughts.

Intel Core i7 processor 2670QM (2.20Ghz,6MB, 4C)
1.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M
6144MB RAM
500GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA HDD

Sony vaio (£1150):
Intel Core i7 processor 2670QM (2.20Ghz,6MB, 4C)
2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
6144MB RAM
500GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA HDD

as you can see the only real difference is is graphics.. but iv read rave reviews about the alienware vs the sony vaio...
Any advice would be much appriciated.

The problem is that 540 is getting dated. Newer games should push you into the 560.

If expense is an issue, get a desktop for the gaming and a laptop for ... laptopping.

thanks for your reply.. for gaming and also im a 3D animator at universite.. so being mobile is an issure, thus why im not buying a desktop happy

Since it is a gaming laptop the usual arc of ownership is that in year 3 you usually find the gaming laptops in need of a major repair. So far this is not something I see folk escaping.

If you need to know why, the reason is very simple. Gaming laptops cram the leading edge parts into the smallest space so lifespan or MTBF hours are lower than a "laptop."

Many think they can escape this by picking a better name or model. So far. No.
