Best laptop for gaming, games design student?

Hi everyone, I apologies in advance if I'm fishing in the wrong place here but I'm really stumped at the moment regarding what laptop to set myself up with. I have always been a desktop man but with all the travelling between home and university it really has become necessary to invest in a laptop.

I'm a student with a budget of around 500, I will need a machine that can handle the type of work and programmes I'll be using. As a student essays are a given, but we also do a lot of digital painting and 3D modelling using software like Adobe Photoshop and Autodesk Maya. To accommodate these programmes I'll need at least a 15" screen, I'll only travel between my flat and the studio during most of the year so weight isn't a big issue.

Also I'm a games design student, so I'm obviously enthusiastic about gaming. Fortunetly I do most of it on consoles but it would be nice to have the option of running titles such as The Sims 3, I do not need the latest powerhouse though.

Finally there's basic comforts. Sufing, downloading, movie & music playback, ports, and prehaps even a DVD-RW would be ideal. If anyone could shed some light on this for me I'd really appreciate it.

Appreciate the effort. I wasn't after a gamer laptop though, needed a desktop replacement one with decent dedicated graphics. I went with the Samsung RV511-S01.

-15" screen
-Intel Core i3-380M Processor
-6GB RAM
-640GB HD
-NVIDIA GeForce 315M graphics card with 1 GB dedicated graphics memory

I should get by on that.

No I wasn't talking in Euros, I was talking in GBP. I used the pound symbol while typing my question but it didn't transfer to the forum. I was able to find the machine for 470 pounds including delivery.

Bigger, heavier
laptops with large screens can incorporate powerful hardware you won't find in
smaller, lighter models. Most of these laptops are as powerful as a desktop PC.
