New Laptop - Toshiba vs HP

I haven't shopped for a laptop in over 7 years. That's how long my current laptop has lasted me. Price is not a real issue for me. I plan on spending $2000 at least.
My current laptop is a Toshiba A75-S229 with an extra 1GB of RAM added.
I've been looking at the HP DV8T Quad with the i7-820 and pretty much loaded with every feature, including Blu-Ray, which isn't a deal maker or breaker for me. Just a nice thing to have on long trips.
Portability not really an issue, my current laptops a behemoth as it is and it just migrates up and down a flight of stairs mainly.
What I'm really concerned about is not necessarily durability, I treat mine with extreme care, but about longevity. $2K is a lot of money and I want to make sure that I'm getting something worth the money that will last for at least 3+ years from now.
Are there any other manufacturers that you recommend or at least another comparible Toshiba?
I'm a keyboard fanatic and I'd really rather stick with the major players. I received a Medion Desktop as a gift and I've hated it since the day it came home.
