laptops used for recording music and photo editing...

We are looking for a laptop that is primarily used for recording music and photo editing and art in general. I also want to be able to upgrade its performance when needed. Money is not an issue... Just whatever is art friendly. Thanks for the help

Well i'm not an Apple user except

for my Iphone and those things are what Apple is supposed to be strong in. One thing i've noticed about Apple with my Iphone is its proprietary. I remember getting a message when i was surfing the internet with my iphone and i came to a video and it gave a rather rude message from Adobe critisizing Apple for not allowing Adobe Flash to run. Thats my only experience with up but they seem to be rated high in support and customer satisfaction.

There are no laptops today for any price that offer this. There were flirtations with CPU cartridges over a decade ago but this died a quick death. We could discuss why if you want but let's move to solutions.

Because of the sound recording you'll want external sound cards such as from M-AUDIO (google for more.)

Because of the photo editing I'd steer clear of most consumer laptops without a first hand look at the display. Here's why. The lower cost units you see in stores have color issues. You'll see color shifts from model to model and even vast color shifts as the viewing angle changes. Almost no consumer (save one!) ignores color calibrations gear like the Pantone HUEY or SPYDERs.

I give a grudging nod to some Sony laptops for better than average displays and Apple laptops for better than average displsys too. Apple stores almost always have Maudio and Pantone gear ready.
