trying to choose a laptop

I am trying to buy a PC to last me at least 4-5 years. I use it frequently for microsoft office, work and home, photography (photo shop etc.) and use it on a wireless network. I am looking for something fast, reliable, and also with good speakers and screen quality- I don't do gaming, but do use a lot of memory with my applications. I have heard that HP and Toshiba usually make good products, but don't know much about how the different vendors compare. Budget is 1000 or less. Any suggestions?

Find this weeks special at staples.com and tell me how close that is to your needs.

NO LAPTOP lasts 4 to 5 years. ALL fail that simply because the batteries fail long before that. There will be other failures along the way so no machine can make that cut. However we can pay not so much and put away bucks for a new battery or machine in 3 to 5 years.
