Laptop Buyer looking for help!

Hello everyone! I am a Graduate Student who is looking for a good computer to use in my future career as a high school teacher. I am looking at an HP notebook and I'm wondering which should I buy? The Duo T9550 at 2.66 Ghz or the Quad Q9000 at 2.0 Ghz? I will be using it for the following:

-Multimedia
-CD burning
-Lots of Gaming hopefully

Nothing too heavy. Just want something that will be able to burn through games really well, yet still hold up to any other application I throw at it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Keep in mind though that I really know very little about computers! Thanks!

Quads in laptops.

Very new, cutting edge so your choice to be the guinea pig or crash test ______. Sorry, my view is its best to give them a year to work out the kinks.

The rest of your specs are your typical 2000 buck gaming laptop. Dell, HP and others have these.

However no machine made today will "yet still hold up to any other application I throw at it" so that's fantasy.

to buy a not too expensive laptop for your professional work for your future career (take it to school etc) and a high-end gaming desktop for use at home.
Desktops generally are better for gaming than laptops.
