Manage updates with the Download App
In WinXP you could set it so that programme's and windows would open with the same settings of your choice not the default setting. How can I get this to do the same in Windows 7, daily I need to login into several different programme's and set the windows size for each of them and re-enter user names and passwords (even though I've selected remember me etc), previously the fields would remain filled and I'd just have to select enter at the most to launch the programme's.
Windows 7 may have more whistles and bells, but whats the use if it doesn't have the useful features of older programmes too

It is is responsibility of the program to save such settings. Odd that you think this is an OS feature.
There are add ons to re-size and position windows of apps that don't do this. And we have AutoHotKey to do more.
You will probably be upset if we discuss this area.

I select save settings/remember me etc in those programmes and it doesn't save the, using the same in XP it did, therefore I can only guess it's the OS as nothing else has changed.

Now you have to ask the app's author if they know if that works in Windows 7.
I'm only an electronics designer with programming on embedded machines and along the way wrote DOS, Windows and other apps. You came out swinging about it being the OS but noting in the OS API does this. I can call the OS to tell me my current screen size, position to save that for when I start later but that's my app's responsibility.
Please read your posts. It's not possible to do much yet except to possibly upset you as we talk about how it's the app's responsibility.
