Windows 7 forum: Is window 7's O.S stable ?

Is window 7's O.S stable ?

I have my window 7 for a little over one year, during the year of uses, there always a little problem here and there, but for certain time after, the problem will gone and soon a new problem come up.
Each time when problem come up, it always take me a long search to trying to get the problem fix and as always, not a chance but wait the problem gone away by itself. this could be month or two, etc.
Why this will happen, when my old system with XP, not that many problem that I face as window 7.
So, with window 8 come up, I do have to wait and see how other users comments.

We've had it run 24x7 with reboots due to automatic updates and power outages. It's a dedicate little netbook collecting process data. So if the OS was unstable, I'd think it would show.

Similar to Bob, my personal system runs pretty much 24x7, generally only rebooting for things like security updates. Runs just fine too. Windows is, by and large, pretty stable believe it or not. What it's not so good at, however, is dealing with the unexpected. So if you buy a bunch of "questionable" USB devices or maybe some no-name RAM from someone on eBay, you're going to run into problems. Most people blame Windows because it's the easy thing to do, when the reality is it's something they did. Even operating systems like Linux, which have a reputation for stability, would tend to stumble a bit with the same dodgy hardware, it's just operating systems like Linux are more graceful in their handling of such situations.

Most stable version yet

I've been running Windows 7 24/7 for close to 4 years, and I find it considerably more stable than XP was. As long as you don't do things like run registry cleaners or fool with the registry, it just hums on the 4 computers I have it on at home and the 28 I support.
