Manage updates with the Download App
I have Windows 7 Home Premium in Dell inspiron 530.
I can burn DVD's with Windows DVD Maker all right, but when I insert a movie, I get "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to to access them."
Can anyone help this computer novice to solve this problem?

When I first purchased the unit, it worked. Somehow it has lost the ability to recognize a DVD. Maybe I should reload the software for that part. Then the question is where do I obtain a reload and how?

VLC Player can play DVDs so I rarely use anything else.

Very good, thanks for the suggestion. I will download VLC and go with it. I am curious as to why my original DVD playing software stopped working but I don't want to contact Microsoft or Dell as they want an arm and leg for service that I can hardly understand the technician. Indian I think.

I've encountered this over registry cleaners, pc speed boosters and malware. It could be an AntiVirus Suite that has some new privacy feature and of course "other."
I don't have many clues but Windows is well known for apps that cease to work and we have to go in and uninstall/reinstall the apps.

So right about the possible anti this and that software as I have ESET antivirus, Superantisypware and a piriform cleaner that works very well. Maybe too well. If I want to reinstall, do I have to uninstall the program and where can I get access to a reinstall?

You get your Service Tag and see if it's at dell.com or on some CD that came with the PC.
If you can't find it, you call Dell. Here I might stick with VLC Player if I didn't want to deal with Dell.

The VCL player is working ok, so I may not try to reinstall, at least not now since I've got a few other problems with this computer that I'm going to get a techie in because I'm over my head now.
