64 bit won't let me use my programs

I have a toshiba computer that has window 7. I also run a word starter with this which is just basic word processing. I made the mistake and hit a button when it asked me about upgrading and it ended put 64 bit on my hard drive and now I can't get in the word program, view any of my pictures, play music or look at videos sent to me. I can't even open up and look at my pictures and it definitely is not allowing me to do any printing. I have no idea how to get rid of this to be able to do these things again. I tried to restore when this first happened, but the 64 bit seems to keep overriding.

Please help, I need to do a lot of work and printing, but I can't.

Before you do anything else, find your files and make sure you have them safe on your 2 or more backup systems.

Your story reads almost like you installed another OS but I can't tell.

As to Word, you can install LibreOffice (it's over at http://www.libreoffice.org/ ) and regain access to most Word documents fast.

Hopefully the real story is just a bum Word install but I can't tell.

Do you think that MAYBE this has to do with the 60 day Office trial that comes with most new systems and that he got screwed up trying to either initiate or upgrade? I'm just wondering where he got the Word Starter, this is just a thought but I agree, it is sort of a scary situation.

I've lost count of consumers that thought they were getting Office with their PC. Many don't notice the word "Trial" on it.

It was joke and has been deleted, it was one of those extras they put on computers, along with Norton, good for 2 months only. PS-My system is both32/64 bit

A lot of my installations are both 32 and 64 bit. IE: Adobe reader is 64 bit, same with flashplayer; defraggler and ccleaner from www.piriform.com are both. Java 7 Update 10 has both. Silverlight is 64 bit Comodo Internet Security is 64 bit. NERO Multiimedia 12 Suite is both. and there is more. Darrell

OpenOffice

OpenOffice has been eclipsed by LibreOffice during the period of time when Oracle was just sort of sitting on it after acquiring Sun and not really knowing what to do with it. LibreOffice is essentially the successor to OpenOffice, even though the Apache Foundation has since resumed development on OpenOffice.

64 Bit takeover

I have looked at all the replies to my question and the only thing I see that is reasonable to answering what I am asking is to back up all my files. After doing this, then what should I do? Should I attempt to scrap everything and start all over. I plan on getting MS Office to load.

...on your 32 bit Windows OS. If you are going to install MS Office on your computer, then you need to
1. Back up all your documents.
2. Uninstall MS Office with the control panel
3. Buy and install a 32 bit version of MS Office software.
4. Restore your data from backup if you lost any files.
