Reset your wifi

As you said it is working fine with other devices except laptop.I think this is problem of authentication reset your wifi password and then try.Even if its not working then you can give the command in command promp for ip conflict.
Open command prompt then type ipconfig /release for ip release after that ipconfig /renew for ip renew.Hope your problem will be solved.

Thanks for your reply..I tried the first option but it does not work..Today i went to my college and my laptop worked fine with college's wifi .it got connected with college wifi but still its not getting connected with home wifi..do you know where the problem would be?Also would you please explain the second option.

Check Wifi Setting

I think the problem is in wifi setting as you told that it is working fine in college.It means the problem is in wifi setting.First reset your wifi and Also go in manage wireless network setting remove the network and connect again with use of security and authentication key.

The second option you have to use if you find ip conflict.As sometimes if we are using two devices on wifi ip conflicted.this results in connection break down.For that just go to window search bar type "cmd" in search box
hit enter on cmd program then command prompt will be open.Just type in command prompt
ipconfig /release (Hit enter after this command)
ipconfig /renew (Hit enter after this command)

Your ip conflict problem will be solved using this command in command prompt.Hope it will be solved

I have tried whatever you said but its not working. its also not accpeting command ipconfig/release and renew because when i enter these commands it says "no operation can be performed on.local area connection while it has its media disconnected."do not know what to do now...need help

Hi Ya ive restored my computer back to factory image and or restored to earlyer time
nothing was woking and then it did for a minute and after windows updat wouldnt connect didnt have connection and or media diconnected/. i went to services and had found every service was disabled.
YOU MIGHT TRY LOOKING AT SERVICES TO SEE IF ALL ENABLED ITHER TO MANUAL/OR AUTOMATIC I COPYED THE SETTINGS FROM ANOTHER COMPUTER.
Look in ur task manager and see how many are running? u should have atleast 60 if u only see 6 or 7 then something has made changes to ur programs (antivirus) program probley.and will have to restart them useing property settings for each service. try it can hurt i was without connection for two days trying everything thinking i was gonna have to pay 100 bucks or more to have it fix or windows re-installed. let me know if ur problem is fix already and or if this work.

it sounds to me you have not enabled your laptop to connect to the internet through your wireless network.

Right click on the internet icon in the quick launch (lower right) > if you are asked for a password, enter it > then you should be online. You may have to reboot, if you do, reboot your router too. Wait at least 1 minute when you turn off your router before turning it on again. Also it is a good idea to unplug the router and wait.

....... a network help forum like TSF in the Internet and Network sub-forum to get specialist help - they will solve this issue for you I am sure of that - the Manager is an MVP and a wizard at your kind of issue. Post back if you get your fault solved so we all know what the problem was.

There are many reasons for this issue. The most common I see is the WEP password. If it's not right you'll still get a connect and it will fail. We also have settings in the router such as maximum number of connections and other filters to only allow some machines.

Your post is too sparse on details but it looks to me it's not your laptop with the issue.
