Window7 logo not on my desktop.

My new laptop is only 5 weeks old.It is Windows 7 64 bits.Since yesterday, my desktop does not display Windows 7 logo nor HP logo.Instead, the desktop is white color covering my blue wallpaper and has HUGE black letters message saying:" Stop! You may have to clean up your computer with our program because it may be clogged up."The service trays lower left and lower right both display the few icons correctly(volume,Skype,Weatther,Internet Eplorer 9 etc.) When I click on these icons they work. they work. HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS ANNOYING MESSAGE AND get back my blue wallpaper and desktop with Windows logo& and HP logo?There is nothing to click on to delete the message.My Norton and Microsoft Essentials both ran a long scan and both tell me I have NO VIRUS.I am a beginner so pls.give baby steps detailed instructions. Thank you.Monika

Norton and Microsoft Essentials are not finding the culprit, evidently. With a different computer, make the downloads and follow the advice in this thread: http://forums.cnet.com/7726-6132_102-5098912.html?tag=posts;msg5165373

What Downloads?

It is possible that it is undetected malware.
What downloads do you you suggest I should make on another computer?What downloads are you referring to?
Should I also download Spybot Search and Destroy to see if it picks anything up?
Since I already have 2 other antivirus programs,would a third one interfere with them and cause problems or
should I go for it?(Remember I am a beginner.)THANKS.Monika
PS. Windows logo actually shows up but the desktop page really has a problem.

A wallpaper fixed my problem!

My friend chose a new wallpaper.After we clicked on it it covered that annoying message and now my desktop is perfect like before.Thank you very much for your kind help anyway.

Really encourage you to do more work here.

See: http://forums.cnet.com/7726-6132_102-5098912.html to download and run additional scans to remove malware present.

Changing the desktop wallpaper does not fix anything. It is like putting a large gauze band-aid pad on a gaping wound. You are still bleeding (a lot).

I like his advice. Changing the wallpaper may remove the effect but did you do the work to get rid of the pest that put it there?

mchainmchain offers sound advice without all the costs of visiting repair counters or giving out the numbers on plastic cards.
