So Confused about Microsoft Office 2010

Just got a new hp laptop that I *think* came with MO 2010 installed. (there was def' no CD rom that came with it)
Only after several failed attempts & some Googling did I realize the long code at the bottom of my laptop was *Not* the registration key.

So what do I do now?

All such PCs come with a trial version.

Many folk get confused because it might work for some number of days and then you read posts like this as it no longer works.

I'm sure HP will tell you something similar.
