How to delete this file

Hi

I need help removing a bootmgr file that is lying around on another partition. I would like to remove it as it is irrelevant to my OS. However when I attempt to delete it, it says you require permission.

I have tried taking ownership and changing permissions but I still cannot delete it.

I am thinking to try and delete it from the command line. I have tried the remove directory command and have had no luck.

Anyone know a command to delete it?

If there is more than one bootmgr file and this one mentioned is identifiable from the directory, and most definitely wanted to be deleted, then make a Linux Live disk. Boot to the Linux disk and it can delete the file without any hassle. Just make sure that is what is wanted as doing so without knowing the consequences will render the OS unbootable.

I am positive i want it deleted. Thanks for your response. Good Idea. I might try that.
I was thinking more along the lines of doing in within Windows 7, but Linux should work.

Make a recovery disc and back up your system first

Before deleting, be sure you have a way to recover in case Murphy strikes. With multiple partitions, you can have the OS on one partition and the BCD (boot configuration data) on another, so deleting that file could possibly cause your computer not to boot. If you have an install disc for Windows 7 or a repair disc, you can recover, but if it were me, I'd want to have a full system backup too. I've been using Norton Ghost (currently version 15) for 8 years without the first problem, but there're other good backup programs like Easeus Todo Backup and Memeo you could use as well.

Thanks. But as I said I am positive I want it deleted. It was copied from another HDD and has no correlation to my current OS.
I will try the Linux Live method, but is there any way to do it through the command line? Just wondering?
