LG CT21N Burner Problems

need help my LG CT21N supposed super burner does not recognize blu-ray disks writes on standard dvds but does not close them out
Error message for blu-ray disks "insert a writable disk"
Error message for standard dvd "The disk was not burned successfully make sure you have the latest firmware for youur cd or dvd burner and try again" that disk is burned but not closed out
Surfed the net for firmware updates for the burner including LG no luck

The burner runs on a ASUS G72GX Notebook
with windows 7& 8 (double boot) 2 GB quad CPU 6 GB MEM

1. BluRay support is not native to 7 so you'll have to add that with software titles. This software rarely comes with the bare drive.

2. Closing a session is not the responsibility of the drive. It's done by the recording app.

if bluRay support is not native to 7 where will I get support for my Drive
The LG Ct21N is listed as standard CD/DVD ROM in device manager
when trying to burn I'm asked to make sure I have the right disk for the burner
so i looked up the specs for the drive and bought blu ray disks no luck
I also have 4 burn apps and neither of them was able to close out a disk even on a standard dvd

1. We add bluray player and possibly burner software.

2. For CD/DVD creation I use CDBURNERXP and a few others.

I don't know how many years you've been around Windows and CD/DVD burning and don't want to upset you but it's not the drive's responsibility to close the session. Have your friends give you an one on one lesson if need be.

CDBURNERXP has lots of tutorials so I don't duplicate that here.
