Is backup necessary ?

I made backup discs when I got my computer.
Now, over a year later, I am getting a message from my Windows security "Your files are not being backed up".
I use Carbonite, so do have backup from them.
I am using Windows 7 64 bit.
How does Windows backup work? Would it be duplicating things on my computer? I don't want to take up space unnecessarily.

If you're using some third party backup program, you can ignore that message.

As mentioned ..........if your happy with your current backup method no need for the windows backup.

I see in the "action center" where I can turn that message off.

While the backup disks you made initially and your Carbonite package might be of help, a physically damaged hard drive that will not boot can be a time consuming effort to correct. When...and not if...this happens, you'd need a hard drive replacement and the ability to restore the most recent full disk image that was made. Your initial backup will only restore the PC to its condition on that day. Years later and with all the MS updates and software you may have added, that backup isn't sufficient. Unless Carbonite keeps the full disk image for you, you're well off to do this yourself. Even if Carbonite can restore a full image, you'd need a way to get into the cloud to recover it. You'd need to have some other bootable device attached to your PC with the right software on it to recover the image.

Well, for official work i always suggest you to take all the backup of your work. I will suggest you some guidelines so please check this out and make proper settings for taking backup and recovery of your data.

- just go through with your control panel and click on system and maintenance
- you can find the option named as back up and restore.

You can check out the details whether you want full backup on weekly basis or daily basis..
to save space on your hard disk, you can take back up in your external hard disk or you can either use separate cd to save all your backup.
