it says windows cannot currently check for update, because the service is not running. you may need to restart your computer" please help me to solve this problem. because of this error i think i cannot install the .net framework. p

Most of them have me uninstalling .net. Many folk don't need .net and the updates fail for too many reasons.

At least Windows Update does not rely on .net.

Try going to the control panel for windows update and disable it. Restart and re-enable automatic updates. I've seen this a few times on several PCs and don't have an answer why this seemed to fix it. I'd already checked and the service was running. Go figure.

Had the same problem for weeks.Don't remember which solution worked,but:
go to top of page and type into box "search cnet",the following:windows update not working.
You will see many posts to read,and choose the easiest solution for YOU.
