Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 Notification Issues

How do I enable a yellow flashing Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 taskbar alert without using Aero? At the moment the only notification viewed is a solid blue taskbar alert which is not very visible. The task bar is not behaving the same way as it would with Aero (flashing icons). I am trying to run my Windows 7 64 bit in a VM Ware environment without using Aero due to performance hit. I have checked the settings and haven't found any solutions to notification alerts.

When an app like this doesn't do what we want, we often have to write it. Here's a taskbar alert in C#

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1476086/how-do-i-show-a-taskbar-notification-in-my-c-sharp-application gives a demo as well as another solution.

However as I travel more I find less and less programmers in IT. I can't explain why they can't do anything unless it's in some GUI menu.
