Thank you for the NTPASSWORD suggestion - but no luck.

Computer will not boot from the disk. The BIOS were changed to have boot from CD first but didn't work.... Is it because those with administration privileges need to be able to make the changes....
Downloaded both on CD disc & flash drive...will not boot from CD

Is there a way to go into the drive & access the NTPASSWORD file from windows guest account?

Any other suggestions??

I can do complete reinstall but need the data .... cannot lose the data....

But let's backup a bit.

You said you changed the BIOS to boot from the CD, so the BIOS is not password protected.

That means the NTPASSWORD on the CD failed. Is this because that CD wasn't bootable? What did you do with the NTPASSWORD software, did you simply burn it to CD or did you Burn It as an ISO?

For a CD to be bootable it has to be burned as an ISO onto the CD.

The BIOS is what the computer boots up with and checks the hardware before Windows loads.

No Guest account required and in fact no account needed to access the BIOS, so I'm not sure what your item1 means.

Checked the NTPASSWORD and as you advised had to save it as ISO.

Hooray, I was then able to restart, and booted to the screen of Resetting Windows Password...
But I have not been able to go beyond question 1, because SAM Security file missing.

I checked to see if SAM was in windows32/config...but access denied, because guest account only, not administrator....

What should my next move be?

Where a member deleted the SAM file. If you did that, then take it up with the person who told you to do that.

An OS reinstall or Repair Install is next but the details for me to write about which to use are too slim. I don't see what OS DVDs you have.
