I am trying to download openoffice but can not HELP

I am a struggling computer user and want to download openoffice but it will not work WHY I am using a basic emachine computer and I can not access the microsoft office that I thought was downloaded when I purchased the computer as I do not have a product code or number and it was 18mths ago. I want to type and save a document I seem not to have a version of either Microsoft office or Openoffice to use. I think Openoffice would be the easiest for me to download, I use firefox or google chrome or internet explorer to search the net, but when I click on the download button from the Openoffice site it comes up with a save this file box and goes no further ANY SUGGESTIONS

ASK a friend to download it for you. Hand them some 2GB or larger USB STICK to make it easy on them,

Also, make sure they download LibreOffice instead of OpenOffice. Even though OpenOffice did just release a new version, it was just kind of a maintenance release, and at this point it's unlikely OpenOffice will ever manage to catch up with LibreOffice.

Yep Jimmy, good advice, go with the Libre Office and you will be a pretty happy camper, I did that a while back and am very pleased.

Does anything download?

Are you having problems with any other downloads? If you're having problems using Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer there must be other issues preventing you from downloading.

1.Check the top or bottom (depending on the browser) of your screen when you select the download button. Look for an "allow this script" type message.
2. Try right clicking the download link using, "save link as" from the context menu.
3. Enable the download web site in any browser blocking programs.
4. Check your firewall settings.
