Works Suite 2006

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 6.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
Dell Inspiron 1545

I am running MS Word 2002 and the icons have started to 'flicker'. This gets worse as you hover on them with the cursor. I have re-installed/repaired using the disc and the Word programme itself to no avail. There does not appear to be any problem with any other programme.
Any suggestions please.

Clarification request: Works or Office

MS Word 2002 is part of the Microsoft Office XP (2002) suite, so is this Works 2006 or Office 2002?

Which icons do you mean, Desktop icons or icons within Word?

Microsoft says at the link below that Office 2002 is compatible with Windows 7 but an upgrade of Office is required. Link here

Their upgrade link in that page takes you to Office Service Pack 3, SP3 which you need to upgrade Office to. This link

But if you do mean Microsoft Works Suite 2006, then MS says that is fully compatible, in this link

I have used the programmes detect and repair facility again. This time I selected return to 'default settings'.
So far, It's looking favourable.
