OK guys. I know some of you are like me. You work for a good company but they issue you a bad computer. the Dell they gave me lost 4 hard drives in the first year. When I finally got approval for a new computer, they gave me someone's old piece of ....shall we say poo. It didn't work either, keyboard problems. Of course you have guessed it. Windows vista.
Anyway, I am fed up with the situation and am willing to buy a good computer and copy "everything" over to the new computer and place the company on on the desk until they want it back. My issue is that there is installed software that needs to be installed on the new computer. No, they did not give me the ok to do this but they haven't given me a computer that works either.
I need to make a new computer emulate the old computer without the installation disks. No this is not an intent to steal. It is an attempt to not be fired because I cant do my job with the crap they gave me.
Is it possible to take a new computer with no programming and simply slide EVERYTHING from the old one to the new one?
or is this a pipe dream?
To be clear, I am not trying to copy simple working files. I know how to do that. I am not looking to just copy the hard drive. I know how to do that. I want the whole shebang as if the new computer is the old one.
