Windows 7 forum: Computer copying

Not just impossible, but fraught with a number of thorny legal and company policy issues. If the company gives you the go-ahead to buy your own workstation, then let them sort out how to get all the required software on it without violating any license agreements and what not.

I also have to wonder... The hardware tech in me thinks that with so many issues where you appear to be the only common element, that it's not so much the computers that are the problem, but how you use them. I could see one HDD going bad.. MAYBE two... Four however, has such astronomical odds associated with it, it is just this side of impossible, and it is almost infinitely more likely that you are doing something that is bringing about the premature death.

Yeah the computer is a construction Manager computer mounted in truck with a computer stand. Our sites are everywhere including the mountains. So they do get bounced around. Funny one group got the tough book and we got the Dell Latitude E6400ATG.

It is not just all of us but rather it is the computer too. Look up the reviews on this thing and you can see the many negative comments. It is really bad. In the winter, I have to drive with the windows down 1/4 of the way with the heater on the floor to keep from overheating it. On any day above 70 degrees the vehicle has to remain on with the AC on to keep the computer from having a seizure.

They sent out a survey to all of us to see if we recommend it to the other group. The answers varied from, "I do not recommend it" to "This is the biggest piece of crap that I have had to work with in the 11 years I have been here."

It goes on and on. There have been many that were sent back to the factory. We must have received a bad batch as per the office manager.

I think it is just a really bad selection for the application.
