Windows 7 forum: W7 Updates and Installers can't find internet connection

Panda is the only AV I'm using. I don't have any adware/spyware programs that continuously run on my system. I periodically run scans manually.

I did conduct the manual update on Firefox and that failed as well. That's strange, because 2 days ago when I opened up Firefox it opened up by saying it was updating it and no errors came up when it was done, so I thought it was one of the programs that could.

I had been thru Panda's firewall settings previously and all the programs were set only to let outgoing connections go thru. As a test I tried changing a few of them to incoming and outgoing, but the problem still persists.

In answer to your question about downloading from the internet. What I am able to do is to download the executable file onto my desktop, but when I open up the file to install it that is where either the program fails with no known reason or I get the msg that no internet connection found (depending on the program).

I've thought about how long I've had the problem. At first I thought it was recently, but then I remembered that I had a problem about 6 months ago installing the Amazon installer to download a song. It didn't work and I blamed it on the program itself and then forgot about.
Now I'm thinking the problem goes back that far or more so I looked up my downloads and I renewed my Panda back in November.

Might be a problem w/ the AV and I will be making inquiries in their forums, but if you have any more suggestions/ideas I can try in the meantime I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Is that a browser add-on or is it a stand-alone application?

Whichever, can you disable it, (add-on), or uninstall it?

If you uninstall, reboot the computer afterwards to update the registry and system settings, then try again.

Weird that Firefox failed as well. That does make it look like some add-on or software utility is blocking this.

Hi..thanks for the response.

I checked and saw that Windows Defender was running alongside my Panda. Didn't even know that WD existed..anyway, I turned it off but still have a problem.

If you have any other suggestions, let me know. Much appreciated.
