Now I know exactly what I have to do and I have a System Repair Disc.

One more question:
If I need to replace the HD is it enough to just buy one, installing it and put the System Repair Disc in the laptop and following the instruction how to restore from a System Image?
I will be using the Winwos7 backup/restore

I have no idea how the W7 backup/restore functions......never tried it.

Based on an image prog I used in the past.
Boot the image prog.
Select restore image.
Input>optical.
Output>hd.
Hit go.

Feed it the disc/s when asked.

That's why I mentioned to test the restore feature.
You want to verify that this works and you know how to use it.
Yes you can just pop in a new hd and restore an image.

If it works.......yes
If it dose not work........you might get to rebuild from bare metal.

Start>help and support>enter the word "backup".
That seems to explain how to use the w7 backup/restore feature.

At the moment I don't have any problems whatsoever and if I could have problems by just try to see if the backup works than I will just not try.

I had a crushed last year and took me long time to get back to normal. Did not lose any of my private files but Norton, W7 and other programs had to be updated....don't want to have to do this again in case of a crush.
